TZ Recipe #3: Rice and Beans



Ingredients: 

  • onion 
  • 3-4 pili pili 
  • 2 green peppers 
  • 5 tomatoes 
  • 2-3 carrots (however many the lady at the market gives us) 
  • beans



Steps: 
  • either the night before or the morning of, sort through the beans and look for any obnoxious rocks that would crack your teeth. put them in a pot and cover with water. soak until you begin cooking. 

  • warning: start cooking early! its a 1.5-2 hour process. 
  • so throw the beans on and let them do their thing. go read your kindle, do your push-ups, take a shower… whatever 

  • come back a good while later (maybe an hour) and start getting the rest of the ingredients together. go wash them. 
  • chop. chop. chop. 
  • add the onions first. 
  • then the carrots whenever you feel like it. 
  • and the green peppers a little later. 

  • and the tomatoes and pili pili last. 
  • go ahead and make some rice during all of this.
  • sometime during the process, go outside and enjoy the views - the sky and the beautiful sunset. 

  • cook until you are either satisfied with how soft the beans are or until you are too hungry to care. 

  • dig in. (maybe with harry potter on in the background)
